Nature of Therapy

for the Forgiveness Counseling Model

Initially, the Enright model of forgiveness nature is primarily focused on understanding and assisting clients who have experienced hurt feelings, to forgive the wrong-doer . His model draws from theories of moral and cognitive development (Enright, 1996).

In recent years, however; understanding the worry and how the theory has evolved to encourage the victim to reflect on the hurt they experienced and how to effectively forgive the wrongdoer. This leads to the deepening phase which encourages the wronged individuals to reveal the source of anger. (Enright, 2012).
